Chronic fatigue

What does the chronic fatigue service do?

The chronic fatigue team provide multi-disciplinary team assessment to patients. This can lead to group work or one to one help with pacing, graded activity, adjustment issues and associated emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression.

We also work with patient groups, the occupational health team, employers, benefit agencies and educational establishments.

Initial appointments will be offered at our premises at Molineux Street NHS Centre.

How can I access the service?

Your GP can make a referral to Dr Gavin Spickett consultant in immunology at Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle upon Tyne, who will allocate patients to consultants in infection and tropical medicine. Consultants from the department of immunology and the department of infection and tropical medicine can also refer into the service.

People cannot refer themselves into the service. Any ‘would be’ patients can contact the team on the number below.
