Pharmaceutical needs assessment

A pharmaceutical needs assessment (PNA) has been produced for Newcastle PCT.

The PNA has a dual purpose, firstly to determine applications from pharmacies to open new premises or to move to new premises and secondly as a tool to help PCTs commission appropriate services from pharmacies for the population they serve.

To achieve this dual purpose the PCT needs to be clear about what services are currently provided by pharmacies and where. Mapping this with the health needs of the population identifies any gaps in current service provision and outlines areas where a pharmacy service could be commissioned to meet health need.

The Newcastle PNA is available to download below along with the consultation report. Please be aware that these are large documents and may take some minutes to download.
